Christian Counseling for Healthier Relationships

When relationships feel difficult, you don't have to figure everything out on your own.

At Providence Counseling, I provide compassionate, evidence-based counseling grounded in biblical truth to help you work through conflict, strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and move toward healthier relationships.

You Love Them. So Why Does This Feel So Hard?

You care deeply about your relationships and want to honor Christ in the way you live and love.

But knowing what you want your relationships to look like and knowing how to get there can be two very different things.

If any of this sounds familiar, you're not alone and you're not broken.

  • You keep having the same arguments without really resolving anything.

  • You feel emotionally distant from someone you love.

  • You struggle to communicate without becoming defensive, frustrated, or withdrawn.

  • You’re carrying hurt or disappointment that you haven't known how to work through.

  • You've prayed, read books, or sought advice, but still feel stuck.

  • You want your relationships to be healthier, but you're not sure what needs to change.

You don't need to pretend everything is okay. You also don't have to give up hope.

“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”

— James 1:19

Hi, I'm James Garner

I work with Christians and couples who are struggling with relationships, communication, emotional connection, and the challenges that come with living in a broken world.

My approach combines evidence-based counseling with a biblical worldview.

I don't believe you have to choose between professional therapy and your Christian faith.

Your faith can be an important part of the counseling process while we also use practical, clinically supported tools to understand patterns, work through difficult emotions, improve communication, and create meaningful change.

My background in counseling, ministry, and recovery work has given me the privilege of walking alongside people during some of the most difficult seasons of their lives.

I've seen how easily relationships can become stuck in unhealthy patterns—and I've also seen the hope that can come when people are willing to slow down, listen, understand, and begin doing things differently.

My goal isn't to tell you who's right or who's wrong.

It's to create a safe and compassionate space where you can be honest about what's happening and begin taking meaningful steps forward.

This is for Christians who are ready to take an honest look at their relationships and begin making meaningful changes.

You may be ready to:

  • Take responsibility for your part without carrying all the blame.

  • Understand the patterns that keep creating conflict.

  • Learn healthier ways to communicate and handle difficult conversations.

  • Work through hurt, disappointment, and emotional distance.

  • Build relationships marked by trust, grace, honesty, and respect.

  • Grow personally while growing in your relationships.

  • Explore how your Christian faith can inform your healing and growth.

You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. You just need to be willing to take the next step.

You Don't Have to Keep Doing This Alone

Reaching out for counseling doesn't mean you've failed.

It means you're willing to acknowledge that something isn't working and you're ready to do something different.

Whether you're struggling in your marriage, experiencing conflict in an important relationship, or simply feeling stuck and unsure how to move forward, counseling can give you a place to slow down, be heard, and begin making sense of what you're experiencing.

If something on this page resonated with you, let's talk.

Schedule a free 15-minute consultation to tell me a little about what you're going through and see whether Providence Counseling might be a good fit. There's no pressure and no obligation. Just a conversation about where you are and where you'd like to go.
