Meet the Team

Providence Counseling and Consulting LLC is a husband-and-wife counseling practice serving Oklahoma through secure telehealth sessions. Both James and Samantha Garner are Licensed Professional Counselors in Oklahoma, providing individual, couples, and family counseling with a focus on anxiety, depression, relationships, trauma, and life transitions.

Married since 2011, we are grateful to be raising our two children—our adopted son and our daughter. Our own experiences as a family have deepened our appreciation for the joys and challenges that life can bring and have strengthened our commitment to serving others with empathy and understanding.

Having both been raised in the church, our Christian faith continues to shape our lives and our approach to counseling. We are active in our local church and value the importance of faith, family, and authentic community. Whether clients are seeking counseling from a biblical perspective or simply looking for compassionate, evidence-based care, our desire is to provide exceptional care where lasting growth and healing can take place.

James Garner, LPC-S

James Garner, LPC-S, co-owner of Providence Counseling and Consulting, offering compassionate Christian counseling for individuals and couples throughout Oklahoma.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor with a Master's degree in Counseling from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Master’s degree in Theological Studies for the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. My education in both counseling and theology has equipped me to thoughtfully integrate evidence-based counseling with a biblical worldview to provide care that addresses the emotional, relational, and spiritual dimensions of life. I believe lasting change is fostered through compassionate relationships, sound clinical care, and the enduring truth of Scripture.

I work with adults and couples from a variety of backgrounds who are navigating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions, and questions of purpose or faith. I also enjoy helping individuals strengthen communication, resolve conflict, and build healthier relationships. My goal is to provide counseling that is compassionate, practical, and personalized, equipping clients with the tools they need to experience meaningful growth and lasting change.

My counseling approach is collaborative, solution-focused, and tailored to each client's unique goals and strengths. Together, we'll identify the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, develop effective coping strategies, and create practical steps toward greater emotional wellness, healthier relationships, and spiritual growth. I strive to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe to be honest, ask difficult questions, and pursue healing with confidence and hope.

Outside the counseling office, I enjoy continuing to grow as both a counselor and theologian through ongoing study, reading, and professional development. My desire is to serve every client with humility, excellence, and genuine compassion while helping them move toward the life and relationships they were created to enjoy.

Samantha Garner, LPC

Headshot of Samantha Garner, LPC, co-owner of Providence Counseling and Consulting, providing evidence-based Christian counseling and telehealth therapy for children, teens, adults, and families throughout Oklahoma.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with nearly a decade of experience serving children and families as a school-based therapist. After earning my Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and my Master of Science in Counseling from Oklahoma State University, I developed a passion for helping children, adolescents, and families navigate life's emotional and behavioral challenges with compassion, patience, and evidence-based care.

Throughout my career, I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral concerns, ADHD, self-esteem challenges, foster care transitions, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and a variety of other mental health concerns. My approach is developmentally appropriate, individualized, and focused on creating a safe environment where children and adolescents feel understood, supported, and empowered to grow.

I believe children experience the greatest success when families are part of the therapeutic process. Whenever appropriate, I partner with parents and caregivers to strengthen communication, build healthy coping skills, and create supportive environments that foster lasting growth both at home and at school.

In addition to my work with children and adolescents, I have a special passion for supporting women as they navigate the joys and challenges of motherhood. Whether adjusting to new responsibilities, balancing family demands, or facing difficult seasons of life, I strive to provide encouragement, practical tools, and compassionate support every step of the way.

My goal is to help every client discover hope, build resilience, and develop the confidence and skills needed to thrive. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside children, teens, and adults as they pursue healing, growth, and lasting change.
